Star Wars actor Dave Prowse passes away at 85

British weightlifter-turned-actor who played Darth Vader in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy died at 85. Prowse was selected to portray Darth Vader for his imposing physique. His agent Thomas Bowington, called the actor’s death, after a short illness, “a truly and deeply heart wrenching loss for us and millions of fans all over the world”.
Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker portrayed by Mark Hamill said, he was ‘so sad’ on hearing the demise of the legendary actor. “He was a kind man and much more than Darth Vader,” Hamill said on Twitter. “He loved his fans as much as they loved him.”

Dave’s career as an actor was about 50 years. His role as the Sith Lord in Star Wars allowed him to create a niche for himself, that brought him international fame. Along with this, he also represented England in weightlifting at the Commonwealth games in the 1960s before venturing into movies. Source From : Times Of India
