Telangana: School body seeks extension of academic calendar, exam schedule

HYDERABAD: Extend the academic year till July, 2021 and issue a comprehensive academic calendar declaring the schedule of all examinations, demanded members of the Telangana Recognized School Management Association (TRSMA) who met the Telangana chief secretary Somesh Kumar on Friday.
In a representation submitted to the CS, the TRSMA members highlighted that most budget private schools in the state are on the verge of closure due to the financial crisis. While teachers have lost jobs, students are facing academic loss.
“About 3,000 budget private schools are at the verge of closure due to the financial crisis as most of them are in rented buildings and have monthly financial commitments. We request to give low interest loans from State Finance Corporation with a moratorium of 12 months,” read the representation, adding that a separate category of budget schools charging average fees of less than Rs 35,000 annually should be created.

The school body has urged the government to extend the academic year till July 30, 2021 for first to ninth class and get at least 120 physical working days to bridge the learning loss. “Promotion to the next academic year may be given only after summative assessment 2,” read the representation.

The school body also sought release of SSC public examination notification, schedule and model paper. Not just that, they have sought extension of renewal of recognition till 2021-22 to all schools whose recognition has expired as a Covid-19 relief. Source From : Times Of India
