MIT authorities stem to dispel ‘information’ on Covid19 situation on Manipal campus

MANIPAL: Manipal Institute of Technology stepped in to stem what its authorities said was circulation of unverified information related to Covid19 situation on the campus. This information, MIT authorities said are presumptions and not based on facts. They also assured students on the campus that if anyone missed their examination – theory/lab due to Covid19, a separate examination schedule will be announced for them once they are fit to appear for the same.
In a letter addressed to students/parents that was posted on the student run Instagram page – manipalupdates – MIT authorities said there are around 3492 students on the campus for the last one month. Out of them, 13 students were found positive in the testing done on arrival, since they had arrived without RT-PCR test report. They were isolated, given proper medical facilities and most have since resumed their academic activities post recovery.
Since then, the campus has reported one positive case, on December 16 and the student has been isolated with adequate medical support. Those in contact with this student too are being closely monitored. MIT is tracking all minor incidents on the campus. Arrangements are in place to address student concerns. If any student is symptomatic or has concerns related to Covid19, they may contact members of their department listed in the task force.

The task force members – across departments – will address these concerns and provide them with required medical assistance if needed. Authorities urged the stakeholders not to believe, spread unverified information and contact the task force members for authentic information. Authorities of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) that runs MIT, its constituent unit, confirmed the authenticity of the circular hosted on the above Instagram page.
